Week 6 – Food and Culture

This post is all about food and culture in Australia and how it is different from other parts of the world.

In Australia one of the most popular foods is vegemite which most people like to eat on toast with butter. Lots of people have a jar of vegemite in their fridge. Probably because it tastes so good! But vegemite is not very well known in other parts of the world.

Have you ever tried a meat pie? Well if you’ve been to Australia you have probably had a meat pie. They are delicious party snacks which everyone loves. You will probably find lots of meat pies at the shop and restaurants.

Lamingtons are an amazing treat in Australia. They are a square – shaped mini sponge cake which is coated in chocolate icing and shredded coconut. They are commonly found in cafes with tea or coffee. I think everyone loves lamingtons in Australia.

  2. Elisa, this is an outstanding response to the blogging challenge about food and culture. I agree with Rian about how you used (well labeled) photos to describe your chosen foods. I particularly liked the links you made between the foods and the times/situations in which they’d be consumed.
